Moving home is by no means a small decision, and it’s something that will of course be highly expensive and highly stressful. Normally this is something that goes on for a number of months while we look for a buyer, look for a home we want to buy, arrange everything, find a loan, move everything and generally experience lots of hiccups along the way. But sometimes we have to move fast, and when this is the case, is it even possible to move without too many challenges along the way?
Well if you’ve read the title of this article, then you’ll know that I’m going to argue that it is possible to at least speed up the process and to minimize trouble, even if it isn’t necessarily a ‘fast’ process still per say. Following are some tips to help make your move smoother and easier.
Use MLS Services
An MLS is a ‘Multiple Listings Service’ and basically that means that it’s a website that collects lots of different properties for potential buyers to sift through What’s great about these is that you can do cross searches. For instance searching for properties only that have a certain number of rooms, and properties only in a certain area and price range. This is fantastic of course if you want to quickly find a property because it enables you to generate a list of properties all of which will be potential candidates for you. At the same time MLS works very well when you’re selling your property because it puts you in touch with the people who will want a property like yours.
Be Realistic
If you are selling fast, then the unfortunate reality is that you sadly probably aren’t going to get as much money for your property… and you’re probably going to pay more for the one you’re buying. This is simply because you aren’t going to have the same amount of time to wait out for a great deal, or to negotiate. So if you want to move fast, offer a better deal for your home and be willing to pay a bit more.
Get Professional Help
Using a moving company can just make the whole process of moving so much easier and quicker. Different moving companies offer different advantages and deals, and if you want to make your move as quick as possible then you should look for moving companies that will do more of the job for you such as unpacking the other end.
Meanwhile you should also make sure to use an estate agent to help you sell your property faster – they can help make the negatives of your property sound much less negative – and you should use a surveyor on the new property to help you buy with confidence even when you are moving things through as quickly as possible (this is not one that it’s okay to skip).
Sell Stuff
This is another very useful way to make moving much easier and quicker – sell off a lot of your stuff. This means less to pack and less to bring with you and it’s generally a lot less stress. You’ll be surprised at how liberating it can be to have much less to carry with you so this is as good a time as any to be a bit ruthless. It also means once again a better looking property that will sell faster.
Clean and Tidy
You need to know how to make a home that people are going to move right into, and that means making it look as clean and tidy as possible. At the same time, try to avoid making it too ‘you’ with decorations that are an acquired taste. This can otherwise make people reluctant to move in because they won’t be able to imagine what the property would look like without your influence. If your property is clean and tidy before you move this will also make organizing everything a lot easier, and it will ensure that you don’t have as much to do once everything’s out.
Designate a Spare Room to Boxes
Having a spare room for boxes can help with multiple things. The main advantage is that it lets you start to pack without having boxes all over the place. At the same time this makes moving other things around the home much easier. Finally this will ensure that your home looks a lot more spacious and a lot less cluttered when people look around.
